Hello Future Origami Traveler!
My name is Karlo and love adventures since I was a little boy. When I was 16 I started my first travel adventure and hitchhiked the Croatian coast. Oh boy, what sweet freedom and the beginning of my adventure travel bug.
When I finished high school it was clear what I wanted to do next: Travel. I packed my backpack and went for a one-year trip to South-East Asia and New Zealand. Richer in experience but broke in my pocket I returned home with the decision to pursue a career in tourism. I studied Tourism and Hotel management and after finishing my studies I started working for an Asian hotel brand. Many trips to Asia had followed and I had the chance to explore the Mekong, Angkor Wat and the Indian Ocean. However this was still an office job and not my true calling.
So, what to do next? I quit my job and went back to my home country Croatia to start with the real adventure travel! I had been engaged in many exciting projects and became a mountain guide. One day I was hiking in the Gorski Kotar region and we stopped at a beautiful lake. While I was sitting in this pristine nature I thought how nice it would be to be able to get on the water right in that moment. That evening I googled “foldable kayak backpack” and that is how Origami Travel was born.
